Bengaluru airport train schedule to be revised

The airport link train service from Bangalore city to (KIAD) Kempegowda International Airport Devanahalli railway station, with tickets starting Rs 10 onwards, was launched in Bengaluru on Monday the 4th of Jan 2021. The main plan was to provide direct and affordable connectivity at a faster pace. We have been known to understand the traffic issues in the city and to come out of it and drive at least 30 kilometers to reach the airport is always a problem for flyers.

The cost of bus service is on an average Rs. 200 plus and added to the time it takes to reach the destination. It is also a hurdle for the airport staff and the other support work force more than 20,000 of them to commute back and forth to the airport. Now with special train the time taken to reach the airport can be fixed to less than an hour from the city central.

KIAD is about 3 plus kilometers away from the airport/ Shuttle / feeder bus services are being operated by the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to various parts of the airport & it’s free of cost. The timing and frequency of the shuttle service are matched with the train arrival timings.

The first week the services had a delay. The journey took more than 2 hours to reach the destination. The reason cited was the single line track in a 24 km stretch where there are lesser loop lines and technically trains have to be scheduled accordingly from either ends of this section. The railways are working to tweak the same and ensure seamless travel.

We hope to have a good and on time travel going forward which will help travelers and support staff reach the destination and airport on time every time.
